José Maria Carvalho

José Maria Carvalho was born in Lisbon in 1998 and studied violin at the Academia de Música de Lisboa from the age of 4 to 18. He entered the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa in 2017, but chose another path. He graduated in economics from Iscte-Iul in 2020, and is currently finishing his master’s in finance at Universidade Nova, School of Business and Economics, and in economics at Insper, in São Paulo. Along the way, he worked at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation as coordinator of the Sala assistants’ team between 2019 and 2021, collaborated in the Iscte economics students’ nucleus and in the Iscte Trading and Investment Club. He has always maintained his connection to music through his participation in the Orquestra Sinfónica Juvenil and the Iscte choir.
