Barroco Italiano
Duo Lusitano takes us on a journey through the Baroque period with works by the great Italian masters and Portuguese cellist João Batista Avondano. Duo Lusitano was born in mid-2019, the result of a will to perform continuous bass on the cello and with the aim of complementing the respective investigations of its elements. The group focuses its work on representing, in a historical way, the common 18th century practice of using the cello as a harmonic instrument. Through the use of historically informed instruments and bows, combined with academically developed knowledge, Duo Lusitano offers a unique experience in a concert format where historical and practical context are shared.
