Bernardo Calvet Nabais

Bernardo Calvet Nabais began his musical studies at the Instituto Gregoriano de Lisboa with Professor Nelson Ferreira. At age 15 he was admitted to the National Conservatory where he studied with Catherine Strynckx. In 2017, he joined ESMAE, in the class of professor Filipe Quaresma, where he finished his degree in July 2020 with a grade of 20 marks. During this period, he was awarded two-second prizes, in national and international competitions.
He is currently attending a Masters in Music Performance at the Amsterdam Conservatory, under the tutelage of cellist Pieter Wispelwey. He has played in orchestras such as the Jovem Portuguesa Orchestra, Estágio Gulbenkian Orchestra, Aurora Symphony Orchestra and the Porto Symphony Orchestra, XXI Orchestra and the Portuguese Chamber Orchestra. He collaborated with the ASKO Schoenberg ensemble in a performance at the Muziekgebouw Amsterdam. In the scope of chamber music, he has already guided by musicians such as Anna Thomasik, Carlos Azevedo, António Saiote, Miguel Borges Coelho, Dimitry Ferschtman and Afonso Fesch. He has participated in masterclasses with several internationally renowned cellists such as Paulo Gaio Lima, Maria de Macedo, Xavier Gagnepain, Michel Strauss, Andreas Brantelid, Christopher Coin, Boris Adriano, Mats Lindstrom and Martti Rousi.
