In 1985, Levon Mouradian received the 2nd Prize and the Silver Medal in the Pablo Casals International Cello Competition. In 1986, he was a laureate at the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow, and in 1997 he was 1st Prize for Cello at the Júlio Cardona Bow Instruments Competition in Covilhã.

He made his public debut at the age of 10, winning 1st Prize for Interpretation in a competition for young musicians held in the Republic of Armenia. At the age of 14, he played Tchaikovsky’s Rococo Variations as a soloist with the Armenian Symphony Orchestra conducted by D. Khandjian. Also as a soloist, he has performed with the most important orchestras of the former Soviet Union and under the direction of eminent conductors such as Valery Gergiev, Veronika Dudarova, Gennady Rozhdestvensky, Jansug Kakhidze, Vag Papian, Georgi Kostin, Omri Hadari, Daniel Nazaré, and Joana Carneiro, among others. He has performed in concert in several countries, including the United States of America, the Netherlands, Germany, France, Japan, South Korea, Russia, Israel, Spain, Portugal, Brazil, Yugoslavia, and Hungary. From 1999 until 2007, he held the cello and chamber music class at the Arts Department of the University of Évora. Since 2015 he is a professor at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa.

He regularly guides improvement courses in cello and chamber music at the Valle De Arlanza and Nueva Generacíon Musical festivals in Spain, and at the International Festival of Viana do Castelo, together with Ivan Monigetti and Nathaniel Rosen. He has taught in improvement courses at the invitation of the University of Georgia (USA). He was invited by the Music Institute of California to lead the cello class at the summer course in Weikersheim, Germany, in 2012. He was a member of the jury of the Julio Cardona International Competition for Bow Instruments in April 2003.

As a soloist, or in chamber music groups, he has performed in important international festivals, namely in Munich (“Nachtsücke”), Tallinn (David Oistrakh Festival), Weikersheim, St. Petersburg (“St. Petersburg Palaces”), Santander, Burgos and Cangas de Onís, as well as Madeira, Coimbra, Algarve, Sintra, Leiria, Tomar and Viana do Castelo.

Levon Mouradian has recorded several CDs with works by classical composers such as Locatelli, Valentini, Boccherini, Beethoven and Chostakovich, and also works by contemporary composers such as K. Khachaturian, H. Dellalian, T. Mansurian, A. Terterian and Wim Zwaag, for RDP-Antena 2 and the publishers Melody, Dutch Records Company – in which he is part of the main cast of artists – and Clave Records (Spain). Levon Mouradian plays on an 18th century Venetian cello.
