PEDRO MASSARRÃO
Baroque cello
He began studying the cello at the age of 5, and in 2016 he completed his first studies with Luís Sá Pessoa at the Music School of the National Conservatoire. He obtained his degree with Paulo Gaio Lima at the Lisbon School of Music in June 2019. He completed his master’s degree with Jeroen den Herder at the Codarts Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in June 2021. In 2017 he was a member of the group that won the Young Musicians Award. Gulbenkian scholarship holder. In the field of historical interpretation, he is a founding member of the ensemble Altos do Bairro, artistic director of Concerto 1755, collaborates with groups such as Avres Serva, América Antiga or Os Músicos do Tejo, where he has performed in venues such as Casa da Música (Porto), Centro Cultural de Belém, Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian (Lisbon), De Doelen (Rotterdam), or at various festivals: Estoril Coast International Music Festival, Marvão International Music Festival, Os Dias da Música (Lisbon), Internationaal Cellofestival Zutphen, Póvoa do Varzim International Music Festival or the Arte nas Adegas Festival.
