Cello

Started studying cello at the age of 12 at Escola Profissional de Artes da Beira Interior with prof. Rogério Peixinho. She graduated in cello at ESART, in the class of professors Miguel Rocha and Catherine Strynckx. Concluded the “Biennio di Specializzazione” Course in Milan, Italy, with the maximum score at Scuola Civica di Musica di Milano in the baroque cello class of prof. Gaetano Nasillo and later attended the Master Degree Course in modern cello at the National Superior Orchestra Academy / Lusíada University with professor Paulo Gaio Lima having taken the final exam / recital with the classification of 18 values. Awarded at the International Arches Competition Júlio Cardona 2001 with the 2nd prize and Fellow/grant of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation for several years, she also obtained a merit scholarship from Fondazione Marco Fodella in Italy. 

She teaches cello at the Escola Superior de Artes Aplicadas (ESART) and at the Santa Cecília Music Academy (AMSC) in Lisbon where she directs Inic. String Orchestra and also coordinates the strings class. She has also taught at the Metropolitana Music Conservatory and has been regularly invited to guide cello masterclasses and workshops from north to south of Portugal, in Azores and in countries like Mozambique and Finland. Invited to join juries of contests such as PJM 2015, baroque music category, and also invited as teacher trainer in actions promoted by Casa Pia de Lisboa. 

She attended master classes with cellists such as Roel Dieltiens, Jeroen Reuling, Rainer Zipperling, Itziar Atutxa, Jed Barahal, Xavier Gaigne-Pan, Antonio Meneses, Márcio Carneiro, Jian Wang, Anner Bylsma, Ivan Monighetti, Luis Claret, Cristoph Coin, etc. .

Collaborated with prestigious national orchestras such as Orquestra Gulbenkian, Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa, Orquestra do Algarve, etc. and with groupings and orchestras in Spain and Italy including La Risonanza (IT), La Verdi (IT), Academia Montis Regalis (IT), Baroque Orchestra of Salamanca (ES), El Arte Musico (ES), I Musici di Santa Pelagia ( IT), Atalanta Fugiens (IT), La Divina Armonia (IT) among others. She played in some of the most important concert halls in Portugal, Spain and throughout Europe having also worked with renowned conductors: Osvaldo Ferreira, Cesário Costa, Christopher Bochmann, Ernst Schell, Lorenzo Ghielmi, Stefano Montanari, Enrico Onofri, Alessandro DeMarchi , Vanni Moreto, Fabio Bonizzoni, Michel Corboz, Pedro Amaral, Pedro Neves, Pedro Carneiro, Michael Zilm, Lawrence Foster, Emilio Pomarico, etc. 

She has performed in solo recitals such as at the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum and integrating several groups of chamber music and several orchestras in Portugal, Spain and Italy, he recorded for international publishers such as Passacaille, Dynamic, Urania Records, Verso, Naxos, etc.

She is a member of the Quarteto Arabesco, of the Orquestra Municipal de Sintra, of the Baroque orchestra Divino Sospiro, Músicos do Tejo, of the Lisbon Film Orchestra, having also collaborated with some regularity with the Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa, etc. 

She also works in educational projects as the Portuguese Chamber Orchestra “Novos Horizontes” and conceived projects such as “Contar uma Serenata Barroca” (production for schools) for which she obtained the support of the Ministry of Education and is author of scripts for musical shows for the youngest such as “Concerts for Families”. 

Author of the book “O Violoncelo: games for kids / prescriptions for adults” published by the publisher Gradiva in 2016 and author of the “Caderneta de TPC” published in 2018. Develops and creates pedagogical material and is the founder of the Portuguese company of Analógica teaching material (www.analogica-online.com).
