Inês Paiva is a 25-year-old Portuguese cellist from Vila Nova de Famalicão. She lives in Germany and is a Master’s student at the UDK – Universität der Kunst in Berlin, in the class of Professor Konstantin Heidrich. She has won several prizes at national level, including the Vasco Barbosa national string competition in 2015, and had the opportunity to perform solo at the Belém Cultural Centre with the Camarata Atlântica. In 2017 she was awarded a prize at the international competition in the city of Fundão. In 2018 she had the opportunity to play with the Dutch Orchestra – Royal Concertgebouworkest as part of the ‘Side by Side’ project. He has collaborated with the Gulbenkian orchestra, the Münchner Philharmoniker, the Münchner Rundfunorchester and the Münchner Kammerorchester. He performs regularly with the XXI orchestra in Portugal and in the 22/23 season he was an academician with the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra in Germany. Throughout his career, he has had the opportunity to work in masterclasses with leading cellists such as Maria de Macedo, Paulo Gaio Lima, Cláudio Bohorquèz, Peter Bruns, Stefan Fork, Konstantin Heidrich, among others. In 2016, he completed the string and keyboard instrumentalist course at the Escola Profissional Artística do Vale do Ave (ARTAVE), in the class of Professor Jaroslav Mikus. He began his training at the Castro Alves Foundation, in the municipality of Vila Nova de Famalicão, when he was just 6 years old. He also studied at the Centro de Cultura Musical – CCM, with Isabel Campos and Carina Vieira. In 2021, she completed her degree at the Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe (Germany), in the class of Professor Martin Ostertag.
