⅛ Cellos Teacher
Teaching cello and chamber music is my main focus and interest. To reach deeper knowledge, I seek to constantly update my skills in these areas through courses and conferences in Portugal and abroad.
I have been regularly invited to mentor Masterclasses and Internships as well as to be an active member of several orchestras artistic direction and cello ensembles nationwide. Students from my class have been awarded numerous prizes in Cello Competitions in Portugal.
Recently, I finished the Yoga and Meditation Course for children at the Sunshine Yoga School in Lisbon.
Born in Covilhã, I began my musical studies at the Escola Profissional de Artes da Beira Interior, where I studied with Miguel Matias and Filipe Quaresma.
I finished my Degree in Cello – Performance – at the Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espectáculo in the class of Professor Jed Barahal. Following the bachelor degree, I concluded my Master Degree in Music Teaching at the University of Aveiro.
Throughout my academic journey, I have attended Masterclasses with several teachers, including Paulo Gaio Lima, Jian Wang and Xavier Guanepain. As the most significant experiences, I highlight my participation in the APROARTE internship under the direction of Ernest Schell (tutti and head of suit), Young Franco-German Philharmonics in Bayreuth (head of suit), International Orkest Historische Muziek at the Superior Conservatory of Brussels under the direction of Sigiswald Kuijken and also, in a string quartet, a masterclass with the members of the Borodin quartet. I’ve been awarded the 1st prize for Chamber Music at the Young Musicians Award-medium level (2005). I was a member of the Orquestra Filarmonia das Beiras and Orquestra Clássica de Espinho and I ´ve been performing with cello chamber music groups and national orchestras as a guest musician.
I am currently teaching chamber music and cello at Escola Profissional Metropolitana, cello and cello ensemble class at the Academia de Música de Lisboa. In these schools, I’ve been assuming the pedagogical and artistic coordination of chamber music and cello departments, respectively.
